Medicaid finances about one-third of all home health and nursing home care spending in the United States

Medicaid is the largest single payer of long-term care in the country, financing almost 30 percent of nationwide spending on nursing homes and nearly 40 percent of nationwide spending on home health. It also funds nearly 20 percent of all hospital care.
