The Committee
for Economic Development

As one of its first grants, the Foundation is pleased to award the Committee for Economic Development (CED) with $1 million to help expand its outreach to the nation's business sector and engage the sector in a dialogue about the critical financial challenges threatening the U.S. economy, including growing entitlement spending, rising health care costs, debt and deficits.
CED will use this grant to identify and support leaders in the business community who will challenge their peers on Wall Street and Main Street to recognize and begin to address these challenges.
Both the Foundation and CED, as a business-led policy group, understand that an actively involved business community is essential to persuading our elected officials to begin tackling these issues. The long-term goal of this effort will be the passage of legislation that provides all Americans with access to quality and cost-effective health care, as well as legislation that enacts necessary entitlement and budgetary reforms.
