2016 Fiscal Summit: Leadership for a Secure Future
The 2016 election represents an important opportunity for a national conversation between citizens and candidates about the leadership required to secure America’s future.
At $19 trillion and growing, the national debt threatens our fiscal, economic and national security. Voters understand that our nation’s strength and prosperity are dependent on our fiscal health. On our current path, the debt is projected to grow to levels that will damage our economic way of life and diminish our role in the world. Our global standing and ability to confront our greatest threats tomorrow are dependent on our leaders today.
The 2016 Fiscal Summit provided a national platform for this essential election-year conversation. Discussions with policymakers, experts and thought leaders assessed the proposals from the campaign trail and explored the political dynamics that surround and influence the debate. Most importantly, the Summit examined what needs to be accomplished in the next four to eight years to meet our nation's priorities, and build a fiscal foundation that supports economic growth, opportunity, and security.
