Position Summary

Reporting to the Vice President of Communications and Public Affairs and to the Manager of Digital, the Content Specialist will create and aggregate content on fiscal, budgetary, and economic policy and news – with a focus on making complex issues accessible to a broad audience.

The Digital Content Producer will be responsible for helping to develop, write, and repurpose fiscal and economic content primarily for the Foundation’s website and social media properties, ensuring that all digital platforms are updated with thoughtful, timely, and relevant content. The role will also support the development and review of print and other communications. This individual will work closely with members of the Communications, Research, and Grants departments as part of the content development and editorial process.

To excel in this position you must have outstanding writing skills, a firm grasp of fiscal and economic issues, and enjoy research.


  • Exceptional written communications skills, with the ability to conceptualize and write content for a range of audiences
  • Translate complex fiscal and economic policy reports and news into more easily accessible content for digital and print, while maintaining policy accuracy and integrity
  • Edit web content, press releases, print materials, etc.
  • Ensure that the promoted content on website is current, and in step with the current political conversation
  • Review webpages regularly and work with team members to update
  • Assist in production of newsletter, video and infographic content
  • Work with external designers and manage the production of designed print and digital products
  • Participate in monthly content and strategy planning meetings
  • Aggregate content from appropriate external sources, including leading policy and research organizations
  • Collaborate with the Digital Manager to target social media platforms for content promotion and scheduling
  • Assist in evaluating traffic data and success metrics to inform content ideas and planning
  • Moderate engagement on social media platforms


  • 6-8 years of related work experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited organization in Economics, English, Political Science, Public Policy, Journalism, or related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Exceptional written communications skills, with the ability to conceptualize and write content for a range of audiences
  • Understanding of economic and fiscal policy topics and current environment, and familiarity with sources of fiscal, budget, and economic news/data
  • Prior experience writing on fiscal and economic is preferred
  • Experience with a broad array of communications styles, formats, and distribution channels
  • Ability to write compelling, clickable headlines, descriptions, and other micro copy
  • Understanding of search engine and social sharing optimization
  • Strong project management skills – with the ability to manage multiple priorities/demands with short lead-times
  • Be both a self-starter and a team player; and possess the ability to work with both technical and non-technical people
  • Exceptional attention to detail
