The Peterson Foundation partnered with POLITICO to bring you the POLITICO Caucus: Economy and the Election. These thought-provoking discussions brought POLITICO’s Caucus members together for the first time to have a deep-dive discussion about the top economic and fiscal priorities facing the next President. Some of the most respected experts in politics and policy today from across the political spectrum gathered to discuss the key questions for the presidential candidates to answer.

POLITICO's Caucus members convened at the 2016 Democratic National Convention on July 27 for a deep-dive discussion, featuring a variety of perspectives, about the economic policy issues facing the next president.

The event featured a two-part clarifying deep-dive on the candidates' economic policies. First, campaign advisors and economic experts discussed what each candidate will do about trade, manufacturing jobs, long-term debt, taxes, spending, deficits, and financial regulation. Then, lawmakers and experts from swing states explained which economic issues are shaping the race in key campaign battlegrounds.

POLITICO's Caucus convened on July 20 at the 2016 Republican National Convention for a deep-dive discussion, featuring a variety of perspectives, about the economic policy issues facing the next president.

The event featured a two-part clarifying deep-dive on the candidates' economic policies. First, campaign advisors and economic experts discussed what each candidate will do about trade, manufacturing jobs, long-term debt, taxes, spending, deficits, and financial regulation.
