Voters Agree: The National Debt is a Bipartisan Priority for 2020 Election

Feb 28, 2020

A broad, bipartisan majority of voters agree that the national debt is a key issue for the 2020 campaign.

The latest Fiscal Confidence Index shows that across party lines, 8 in 10 voters say Washington should spend more time addressing the debt. More than 7 in 10 voters say their concern about the debt has increased over the past few years and agree the national debt should be a top-three priority for the president and Congress.

The 2020 election is a valuable opportunity for candidates to talk to voters about their ideas to put our nation on a more sustainable fiscal path, which will support economic opportunities and help our nation meet its most critical challenges in the years ahead.
