Michael A. Peterson, President & COO of PGPF, commented today as the Congressional Budget Office released its Budget and Economic Outlook for fiscal years 2015-2025.
“America’s fiscal outlook is more dangerous and daunting than ever, threatening our economy and the next generation."
“Voters understand the urgency of our fiscal challenges, and that’s why they want lawmakers to take concrete steps to secure our future,” said Michael A. Peterson.

"Committee passage of the Fiscal Commission Act is an important step toward a comprehensive approach to stabilizing our rapidly growing national debt," said Michael A. Peterson, CEO of the Peter G. Peterson Foundation.
“The nation remains in the grips of a devastating health and economic crisis caused by the pandemic. Overcoming the virus remains the nation’s top priority, but the vast majority of Americans also recognize the need to address our unsustainable fiscal outlook once this crisis is over,” said Michael A. Peterson, CEO of the Peterson Foundation.

Voters overwhelmingly connect the nation’s fiscal health with its economic strength, and are calling for policymakers to address our long-term fiscal challenges.
“As the national debt grows continually while the ceiling deadline inches closer, voters have an unprecedented level of concern about our fiscal outlook,” said Michael A. Peterson.

The Peterson Foundation cited new projections which demonstrate that $1.2 trillion in deficit reduction that fails to address the fundamental drivers of our growing debt will not stabilize the level of debt relative to the economy, which is the real test of any long-term fiscal plan.
“Democratic and Republican voters know that this level of fiscal irresponsibility carries a huge economic risk,” said Michael A. Peterson.

“Less than 100 days from election day, Americans across ages and party lines agree that the national debt should be a priority issue,” said Michael A. Peterson, Chairman and CEO of the Peter G. Peterson Foundation.
