Foundation President Michael A. Peterson releases a statement on CBO's long-term budget outlook.
“Today’s CBO report may not be a surprise, but it should be alarming for all of us," said Michael A. Peterson, CEO of the Peter G. Peterson Foundation.
“The most important takeaway from today’s CBO report is that interest costs are higher, adding to an already unsustainable fiscal outlook," said Michael A. Peterson, CEO of the Peter G. Peterson Foundation.
“This new CBO report shows that our national debt will reach a record level over the next decade," said Michael A. Peterson, CEO of the Peter G. Peterson Foundation.
“This new report provides the latest evidence that our fiscal condition has worsened significantly since the pandemic began, and will need to be addressed once we’re through the COVID crisis,” said Michael A. Peterson, CEO of the Peter G. Peterson Foundation.
“This new CBO report shows just how much more dangerous the future looks if these tax cuts and spending increases are allowed to continue," said Michael A. Peterson, Chairman and CEO of the Peter G. Peterson Foundation.
Michael A. Peterson, President and COO of the Peter G. Peterson Foundation, released the following statement as the Congressional Budget Office released its Budget and Economic Outlook for 2014-2024.
CBO projects that federal debt will climb to 141 percent of GDP within 30 years — exceeding the highest level of debt ever recorded at the end of World War II by a large margin.
“Our nation faces a range of critical challenges, but Americans understand that managing the debt is a key part of building America’s future,” said Michael A. Peterson, CEO of the Peterson Foundation.
